Yogurt and a Zero Waste Kitchen

I’ve been on a quest to move toward a zero waste kitchen, slowly eliminating foods that are sold in containers and making more from scratch. Last night I made yogurt for the first time in the Instapot. This morning I opened it up to see what happened over night. WOW! Magic! Yogurt happened! I’ve always heard it’s easy to make yogurt. Now I can say it for myself. It’s really easy to make yogurt. Goodbye plastic yogurt containers! Here’s a good tutorial.

I used only about a 14 gallon of Castle Rock glass bottled milk because that’s what I had on hand and yogurt starter from cheesemaking.com. You can just use yogurt to start, I just didn’t want to buy another container of yogurt. If you don’t have an Instapot, you can still make your own yogurt. Just Google and there’s plenty of recipes out there.
